It was such a pleasure working with Laura and Winfield on their wedding! The bride and groom wanted to be sure their wedding was classic and timeless and they had the perfect backdrop, Winfield's homestown, Williamsburg, Virginia. Laura challenged me by asking for a custom calligraphy style (which I think I may have to add as a standard style I love it so much!). All of the beautiful photography, captured by Bit of Ivory Photography, is featured on Glamour & Grace blog.

Fall In Love with this Fall Wedding Invitation
I love designing wedding invitations. In my former life, I worked in Marketing Communications with a heavy emphasis on graphic design and print production. I enjoy the design process and creating something beautiful.
Liza and Neil trusted me to create their fall wedding invitation. At our first meeting, Liza and her mother came armed with inspiration pieces which gave me a real sense of what they liked and didn't like. The wheels in my head started turning immediately. I created 5 invitation samples and after some mixing and matching, we decided on the pieces below.
It was such a pleasure to work with Liza and her mom, Sue. Working with such wonderful brides and mothers truly makes my job a treat! Below is the lovely e-mail I received from Sue.
THANK YOU for your beautiful contribution to making this wedding a beautiful celebration. Your artistry was a truly unexpected gift that exceeded our expectations. Your work sets the scene for the event that unfolds and there is no way to measure how much excitement and anticipation your creation creates! Your kind helpfulness made the decision making a fun process, not a chore, and you handle every detail with professionalism and promptness.

South African Wedding
Once again, I had a bride ask me to create a custom calligraphy style for her wedding invitations. I LOVE when brides think outside the box! This custom style was created for a Massachusetts bride marrying her South African groom IN South Africa, and I loved the way I turned out. There is something about an added flourish that makes an envelope go from special to super special!

A Beautiful Custom Calligraphy Style
I love a bride who pushes me to try something new. My bride and event planner, Katie, asked me to create a custom style based on a sample she found on-line. I started by creating a sample. I photographed it, e-mailed it to her for approval and the rest, as they say, is history.
I returned Katie's completed envelopes to her on Friday. I LOVE the way they turned out and so does she.
Keep custom styles in mind when looking for that perfect calligrapher. Sometimes you may like a calligrapher's overall style, and positive customer reviews, but they do not have a calligraphy option that matches your invitation. Ask if they can create something custom for you. A custom calligraphy style not only helps carry your wedding theme through to your envelopes but adds one more special touch to your wedding!

First Bride of 2011
I've been off the map for a while. I believe my New Year's Resolution last year was to keep up with this blog. But I fell short - WAY short! This year I promise to do much better.
And that's why I thought I'd share with you a quick pic of the envelopes ready to be delivered to my first bride of 2011. Chelsey asked me to write her invitations in a custom style - one that matched her wedding invitations. And since I'm always up for a challenge, I dove in to her envelopes.

So here's to keeping our New Year's Resolutions!
